What makes this different
Written for plumbing business owners — not for insurance shoppers.
This site is run by an independent insurance agency that works with contractors, and it’s built around how plumbing companies actually operate: crews in customers’ homes, service vans on the road all day, water that can damage everything it touches, and commercial contracts with very specific insurance language.
We don’t sell policies in five minutes. We review the business, explain what the policies actually say, and approach the insurance markets that appear to fit — subject to eligibility and underwriting.
Coverage
The policies a plumbing company typically needs.
Each does a specific job. The value is in how they fit together. See the full overview →

Your vans are your storefront. They’re also one of your biggest exposures.
As a plumbing company grows from a few vans to ten or more, commercial auto becomes one of its largest insurance costs — and underwriters start pricing the account on its own drivers and loss history. We’re interested in reviewing established plumbing fleets with current coverage and a reason to take a serious look.
- Driver screening and MVR standards
- Liability limits that match your contracts
- Physical damage on upfitted vans
- Take-home vehicles and adding units mid-term
- Hired and non-owned auto

Texas RMP requirement
$300,000minimum
Commercial general liability the Texas State Board of Plumbing Examiners requires for a Responsible Master Plumber — documented on the Board’s own certificate form, not an ACORD certificate.
Last reviewed October 13, 2026. Not affiliated with the TSBPE.
Licensing vs. reality
The license minimum is a floor, not a target.
$300,000 keeps your RMP designation active. Commercial contracts commonly require $1,000,000 per occurrence or more, and a single water-damage loss in an occupied building can exceed the minimum on its own.

Growing plumbing companies
More trucks, more technicians, bigger contracts.
Growth changes your exposures faster than most insurance programs get updated. Audit bills, endorsement requests you can’t meet, and vans that never made it onto the schedule are the usual warning signs.
- Adding technicians and payroll
- Moving into commercial and new construction work
- Hiring subcontractors
- Opening a shop or second location
Common challenges
What plumbing company owners tell us.
“My renewal went up and nobody explained why.”
We break down how much is rate, how much is your growth, and what would improve the account.
“A GC wants limits and endorsements I don’t have.”
We read the insurance exhibit and tell you what it takes to comply — before you sign.
“Our audit bill was a surprise.”
Payroll estimates and classifications that keep up with hiring prevent most audit shocks.
“Every policy came from a different place.”
We look at the program as a whole so limits, renewal dates, and the umbrella line up.
“We keep adding trucks and drivers.”
A clean process for adding vehicles and screening drivers protects the fleet as it grows.
“Calls and certificates sit for days.”
Responsive service is part of the job, especially when a certificate stands between you and a job site.
How a review works

We’d rather tell you early that a review isn’t worthwhile than send you through a long application for nothing.

Do you only work with large plumbing companies?
No. Our focus is established plumbing companies — typically a few years in business, with employees and service vehicles. Smaller operations are welcome to inquire, and we’ll be straightforward about whether we can help.
Can I get an instant quote online?
No. Plumbing insurance depends on your work mix, payroll, vehicles, drivers, loss history, and contracts. We review the business first and tell you whether a market review looks worthwhile.
Can you provide the TSBPE certificate for my RMP?
When your general liability policy meets the Board’s requirement and is placed through our agency, we can complete and sign the TSBPE Certificate of Insurance and update it at renewal. See RMP insurance requirements.
Will you save me money?
We can’t promise that, and nobody should before seeing your loss runs and current policies. We can tell you honestly whether a review looks worthwhile and explain the differences in coverage, not just price.
Who will I actually work with?
